Default Tire plug ??

I had my tire pluged last week, it hadn't been a good 2 weeks. How long should I rely on this tire and how fast should I keep it under?

Most people would tell you not to rely on it (for safety reasons). I will tell you that I got a nail in the NEW back tire of my 900rr and I plugged it and rode it for about 3,000 miles. I didn't go too fast (no triple digits) and I kept both tires on the ground and I had absolutely no problems with the plug.

I don't know if I would have been as confident if it was in the front tire.

My experience is the same as Onarom, cept I'm still riding on the plugged back tire. My F4i ran over a small allen wrench with about 2500 miles on the clock. Been another 700 since the repair and no troubles, holds air, didn't notice any vibration of any sorts and I've had it over a hundred briefly a couple of times (just one of those little speed rush bursts, otherwise I'm a 5 over the limit kind of guy).

get a new tire immediately, the patch is not a weak point in the structure of the tire. Sure it may hold but if you hit that spot on a rock, crack in the road, hit a large bump to hard, that spot in the tire is more likely to blow. Get a new tire, they're expensive yes, but skin graphs aren't any cheaper.

Dear lord....please replace the tire..... consider it $200 worth of ***-Insurance......im sure everything will be fine......untilit blows....or leaks down on you.......

if you are hell bent on NOT replacing it.....pull the tire off and properly repair it from the inside with a patch......but even that would still make me squirmish....

my $0.02......feel free to flame... ;-)

Change it.
Not safe, especially if you're riding hard.
I had a brand new tire with a screw and it killed me to replace it.
just imagine going on a turn and a blowout happens, it would be some scary a$$ crap.

Ride safe!

Gosh, I agree with all that say PLEASE CHANGE IT. My wise sister who is in the car buis once told me that if you can afford the car/bike, you can afford the maint/repairs. She is right!!!! Dont cheap out and depend on the sub par repair with your body. Just my 2 Cents

Please change the tire. Plugs are not "Z" rated like the actual tire is. So if you get a wild hair up your **** and decide to hit some triple digits. If that plug fails and the tire goes pooof!!! You will become an ink spot on the road. Not worth it.

Change it, no matter what anyone says. You will say to yourself you are not going to ride fast, but you probably will. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the input. After careful consideration and how I hate hospitals I went and bought a new tire(BT014). I fill confident that I can survive the ride to the California Speedway on the 28th. My first trip to a race track.!!!
