Default Tail Kit

So, after about 3 weeks of that ugly mud flap, I finally went and picked up a Targa tail kit. If anyone's looking for a good license bracket, I'd suggest the targa. Looks good, a relatively fast easy install and the only thing to cut was the OEM turn signal wires. I didn't bother with the license light though, so I just unhooked the connector and wrapped it. Comes with turn signals too that look decent and are actually visible during the day, std incandescent yellow bulb with clear lens.

That looks pretty good ^ I was debating doing that, but I decided to buy the kit. I'm considering putting the black plastic piece back on, the one right below the tail light.

Good idea on the plastic piece. I have heard of the tail light being melted on some of the older bikes when it is hot out and you stop for a while. I guess the heat rising from the exhaust, and the high temps will cause it to deform. Not sure this is a problem on the Carbon fiber aftermarket pies though.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm a little concerned about. It still has the aluminum heat shield directly on top, but it still gets pretty hot. Thattail light is probably expensive too!

I moved my plate under the battery box and removed the plastic and cut the heat shield as far back as I could under the tail plastics 5000 miles ago and havent had a problem with my tail light or plastics yet. The do get a tad yellow if I wait to long between baths but thats just exaust film.
