RE: Tail of the Dragon
Went last august, and are group got pulled over the first time up so dont go to fast. As far as im concerned, its the best area to ride on the east coast. Im going again in may. Just ride your own ride, and dont ride like your trying to prove something. Alot of bikes around which makes it alot of funexcept forthe super slow harleys.

WAY to many cops. They were having a field day when I went. Other than that, it's an awesome road, but I seemed to enjoy the Cherohala Skyway even more, it's only about 20miles away from the Dragon... No where near the amount of police on the Dragon and it was less crowded as well. Gorgeous scenery too!

It is a great place, and a very easy place to lose your bike or your life if your not careful. I have lost more than one bike down there. Of course, I was my own fault, I was riding my tail end off, grinding stuff onalmost everyhard corner, toes, knees, boots. dont do that.
On a typical day down there, we usually put 400-500 miles on the bike, and only 22 are on the dragon 11miles on the way out, and 11 miles on the way back in. the surrounding roads in that area are incredible.

Hey Dogg, I am planning on being at the Dragon at the end of may. Plan on riding the dragon during the week. No cops. Check out Rt 143 and 28. If you can plan a day run to T.W.O. and check out the loop. Its about 90 miles south. If I get down there we can ride around. How many bikrs in your party. Also, there is no cell service at the Dragon. For service ride south on 129 til you get into town, about 20 miles. Riding the Dragon for the first time, go slow and watch for gravel in the turns. The main ride is from the gap to the top at the overlook. Its demanding but a kick *** ride. You'll get rid of your chicken strips. Hope to see ya.

highly recomend, you'll love it and theCherohala Skyway. I live 20 minutes from dragon. my advice, since it's your first time go on a monday or tuesday morning, less cops and idiots. ride your ride and don't try to prove anything. i read about wrecks all the time in paper. gotta watch out for the four wheel lane crossers as well. do ride the Cherohala Skyway, nice pavement and long sweeping curves. anyways ENJOY
