Abount a month ago I parked my bike (04 1000rr) facing west outside at work. When I came out after work to head home there was a hole in the top of the instrument panel above the clear in it black trim part. It seems that my wind screen magnified the sun and melted it. Has this happened to anyone else? I had a Pung clear double bubble screen at the time. I have sence changed to a smoked screen. also I started parking south before I got the smoke screen and it didn't melt anymore.

 

Puigs are notorious for heating up the dash to melting point

well now you can upgrade to Carbon Fiber

 

tell them about it and get a new cover, about 80 bucks

I've never heard of such a thing. You know, buying aftermarket parts should make your bike easier and more fun to ride, not give you more stuff to worry about. A windscreen melting your gauges? What a pain.

 

Puigs AND Zero Gravity Double Bubbles will do this. Search around the net, it happens a lot.

You can stick some vinyl on the inside bottom half of the windscreen, or just carry a small towel/rag to cover your panel.

Ya I replaced the windshield with a smoked puig and replaced the instrumant panel cover it was 68.00 plus tax. I will try and put a pic up if anyone wants to see it. it looks like someone heated a screwdriver up and stabbed it.
