Default Speedo suddenly way off - VSS?

Just wondering if anyone here has had any real speedo probs, I've had my bike for 2 1/2 years and this morning when I took 'er out, I noticed that speedo was suddenly way off, like 20-40 mph off, cruising along in 2nd @ 7000 rpms and it's readin 43 -45 mph!? I stopped for lgas shut the bike off and decided to go see how bad it was, well there's plenty of lonely strait roads here so crank it up and I'm in 6th @ 11,000 rpms and it's reading 130mph, now typically that's around 175 on my speedo, so I'm going to troubleshoot this tomorrow and figured I'd ask you guys if anyone has had any problems with thier VSS and/or similar speedo issue. I'm not talking about needing speedohealer here as this issue just started. Any ideas for me on something to check besides the VSS? Thanks

If your bike is a 2004, Honda had a speedo recall, I had mine replaced about 2 months ago, it would be a good idea to bring a copy of the recall paperwork with you to the dealer, because they will tell you that they never heard about it
