Default speeding ticket...40 over!!

so i didnt realize what the speed was but it was 45, and i was doing 85 (according to him). ended up costing me $302.50. at least i get to go to traffic school to get rid of the points. i have to keep that insurance down. and to top it all off, everyone i have had to deal with on the sitiation has been a total jerk to me. its not enough that i realize i got caught and have to pay for it, but its like they enjoy rubbing it in.

You only had to pay $300 for 40 mph over? Id count your blessings on that because the penalties are alot worse in other places. They could have taken your bike and put you in jail! It could always be worse!

wow, you got off pretty easily. 30 miles over bars the traffic school option here.

Check the laws of your state. In some states, they don't take the points off, they just give you credit on your next ticket.

Drivers license points or insurance points? Here in SC, the insurance company has their own point system. Taking the class only gives you back up to 4 points on your license, but none on insurance. You may want to check into that and if its the same in your state, taking the class is a waste of time and money unless you're in danger of losing your license due to low points.

Don't check with the insurance!!!! Unless you already have a bad history with your insurer there's a very good chance they won't even look. If you go asking questions then they may look. That'd be bad. Consider yourself very fortunate -- I'm proud for ya. Wish my luck ran that good

You guys must have different laws then. The ticket goes straight to the insurance company here.

I read where the insurance points are 1/2 of the license points but didn't see anywhere that they automatically notify the insurance co. If they do then all I gotta say is it sux to be in your state and get a ticket Here in GA if the insurance doesn't pull your record they'll never find out.
