Evan_CBR, could you please tell us how did you break-in yr new bike, then i am sure chainstretcher will give you a right direction on this metter instead of just saying

you know my answer for 'how to save delayed break-in', lets see what the others will say.

All my service manager said was to keep it under 6000rpm and under 70mph for the first 600 miles. I asked him specifically about varying the rpm and he said that wasn't necessary since the engines are all run-in at the factory. (if I'd had an engine rebuilt or something like that, then a high/low rpm run in would be necessary). My break in has been all over the map anyway as far as speed and rpm has been (idling through commuter traffic to 69.999mph on the highways).

BTW, 40mpg in stop-n-go traffic with occasional highway runs (from the very first tank of gas, so no delayed breakin would be valid here). Mileage is up to almost 44mpg now.
