Is Something Wrong with my MPG?
I saw the other thread and decided to wait to test my MPG. After filling up and setting trip Odometer, I reached 95.2 miles and had to put in 2.82 Gallons of gas to refill. This comes out to 33.75 MPG (95.2 / 2.82).
I only question this because I never rev higher than 5,000 rpm and rarely go over 60 mph. 70% of my riding is done in the city. I encounter stop signs more often than a light, so I am not sitting there idling much. It just seems strange because others seem to get 40+ mpg and they seem to ride harder than me. Also, my bike only has 300 miles. Does things get better after the break-in period or am I just expecting too much?

The bike will get a little better MPG as it breaks in more. The tolerances are really tight and will loosen up a bit. As for the city driving you will get a worse MPG because of the stop and go. Simply you are reving the bike more to start out from a dead stop. It is not a constant rpm like highway driving. 33 MPG isn't all that bad considering you have a 1000cc bike with a 12.2:1 compression.

you seems to me that you are really babying your bike which is definitely doesn't like that especially on the break-in period. i have to say, if yr bike has only 300 miles and you are not revving more than 5000 rpm, you are not doing good for proper break-in, and yr consumption shows that it is still tight, need to get loose. i strongly recommend you to go some uncontrolled road and make MANY acceleration-deceleration btw 4000-9000 rpms range with 25-40% throttle (preferably 2nd, 3rd and 4th transmission) at least for 150 miles, then don't hesitate to go up for 10000-11000 rpm for several times, then service it for the first time, awoid constant rpms. city traffic is no good for break-in period as engine temp. can rise too much which you should also awoid. search the net, there are many ideas how to make proper break-in, which i told you is nearly what i did but this is yr bike and yr decision. i was doing that btw 4000-8000 as dealer advised but i assumed you are a bit late and raised the numbers.

hey I with a full tank of gas I only get about 100 miles...
whats worng with this picture.
on a 4.8 gallon tank Im getting about 20.8 miles per galllon
Did I do my break in wrong?
