First thing I did was pull the exhaust flapper cables off the servo -- ya gotta leave the servo on or you'll get an FI light but the cables aren't necessary. If you've ever pulled the throttle cables then you'll have no trouble -- there's a cable adjustment that'll let you put some slack in the cable to help in removal.

As far as the muffler itself -- remove the right side exhaust shield and then loosen the clamp that attaches the midpipe (by the foot peg). Take off both seats. Take all the bolts outta the rear cowl and either completely remove it or at least slide it back. This will allow you to get to everything securing the muffler.

+1 to Chain's comments.

Before you pull the stock pipe make sure all the screws that secure the stock heat shield have also been removed from the subframe. You won't be able to get the stock pipe off unless you take the heat shield with it.

1) There are 2 cables routed from the bottom of the muffler to the servo that's under the tank on the left side. The mechanism holding them to the servo is very similar to the throttle -- a barrel end on each cable.
2) You don't have to reinstall the heat shield but I left mine on. On the first incarnation of my bike I cut and painted the muffler cover to fit my 2Bros pipe. I even left the little wings on the side.

And in blue it looks like:

Just to clarify -- I left the heat shield that is directly over the exhaust. I did not reinstall the mid-pipe heat shield on the right side.

Man mine was a bitch. I had to snap the mid pipe muffler clamp right off. I have the Jardine RT-1 w/ race baffle. I also lifted the gas tank and took out the servo cables that way.

1. Remove your taillight assembly
2. Remove your seat
3. Remove your tail section unplug your brake light
4. Undo the right side rearset and let it hang.
5. Raise gas tank undo servo wires.
6. Remove mid pipe clamp
7. Install your slip onto the mid pipe
8. Install pipe onto collector
9. Install bolt above the muffler under neath the seat
10. Put the clamp on and tighten
11. Install rearset
12. Lower gas tank
13. Tail section
14. and the seat...

thats pretty much it in a nut shell.

No sense posting a new post about slip ons seeing we have several already going. My question is this, how much of the stock pipe is replaced. Is just to the clamp or even more towards the bottom of the fairing.

Depends on the kit, some will retain the stock midpipe (the pipe that connects the muffler to the collector), and some will replace it. As far as the servo cables are concerned, maybe it changed for '06, but it is located under the seat, not the fuel tank (in the battery compartment).
