Default Slider warning

FYI;
Adding (any) slider to the CBR frame area requires two important considerations.

1) the bolt must go ENTIRELY into the engine mount tab, long enough to seat in all the available threads. You can check this by bending a paper clip or wire, feeling behind the end of the bolt to see if it engages all the hole threads. Some bolts are not long enough and do NOT engage the entire engine tab. Not good.

2) Make certain (ask the manufacturer) to find out if the bolt is hardened or mild. It should be mild. You want the bolt to bend...not the frame or engine tab.

Do a visual comparison between the sliders on a factory bike and the ones you buy aftermarket

Theh factory ones are VERY thin in cross section, are made entirely of delrin, and have NO massive aluminum mounting base.

Think of the leverage that slider has on the poor lil threads!

If the slider in cross section is much thicker than .25, its WAY too tough,and not sacrificial enough.

Retro & L8X have it right...lot's of load to the frame, AND the engine mounts.

Also...don't forget these same bolts hold the engine in !!!

So if the threads don't fit all the way thru, you have vibration or worse.

So with this information in mind, what are considered good sliders still?
