Shogun "no cut" Sliders for my cbr1000rr
dear fellow pilots
i found this 'crash kit' (frame/bar/swingarm sliders) for my 04 cbr1000rr
http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...R--506885.html
installation doesn't require any cutting/pasting thankfully and seems easy enough
i have NEVER worked on a bike so i'd appreciate any ideas/tips/suggestions on what i should do or not do
thanks y'all !

Those sliders are a great investment. Intutive Racing makes a very simliar kit. Only the 1000RR has a "no cut" slider kit available, the 600RR requires fairing modification for just about every brand I can think of..
locktite everything, if you don't they will vibrate lose, i had one hit me on the top of the foot laying it into a corner. also, be careful when tightening them because they are, and more importantly your motors casing is made of aluminium and will strip fairly easily, so use a torque wrench and use the recommended ft/lbs.
has anybody bought these? where do they mount up to? if we dont have to cut the fairing then that tells me that its might be a real crappy moiunting point and might just break off in the event of a real intimate moment with the asphalt! peace
they still mount up to a engine bolt, just like any other slider, but they come with a handy little bracket that offsets the slider puck from the engine bolt by about two inches, just enought to clear the plastic. i managed to drop mine in the garage and it held up just fine, as i would hope. the only problems i have heard is that in the event of a hard hit on the left side, the bracket can bend and damage your water pump, meaning the engine has to be pulled from the frame to fix it.....
so in other words i would rather buy a pair of sliders that requires me to cut a $10.00 hole in my fairings and be able to have very secure mounting point or get some no-cut sliders and replace my engine. hmmmmmm....................... now thats a real head scratcher lol
you don't have to replace your engine, just pull it out of the frame so you can access the water pump. still a PITA. they secure just as good as any other, but if you don't mind putting holes in your fairings i would defidently go with the traditional ones. plus they're cheaper too.
The chance of the frame slider popping your cases from an impact is low if you just lowside and slide. If you highside that bad boy at over 50mph then waterpump will be the last thing on your mind.
