Blade what he means is the gear shift pattern in reverse. On our bikes the conventional pattern is 1 down and then shift up for 2,3,4,5 & 6. Where MotoGP is 1 up and the shift down for 2,3,4,5 & 6. The idea is it takes little effort & time to just tap the lever down in order to shift up a gear.[sm=type.gif]

You would have to replace the rear sets with one that allows you to set a gp style shift pattern. It's not hard at all. As far as only racers doing it, I think it's just a matter of preference. Some run thier street bike with gp style shift patterns.

I know when I ordered my rearsets, I had to specify which one I wanted; and if i chose the reverse, I would lose the ability to use the break light switch. As far as I know, all aftermarkets that offer you that choice clearly indicate that the reverse pattern is for racing use only. Maybe you could rig something up for the rear brake like (not that you use it much anyway) but I'd hate to try and rig a pair of $500 rearsets.

So just a set of rearsets would do it, i wouldn't have to change anything in the gearbox or anything like that?

From what I have been told, no. Its all in the linkage on the rearset. At least thats what Gilles, Vortex and Arata say.

I run the GP Shift pattern, its only a linkage adjustment on the rearsets i have to change from standard to reverse.
I love it, the best benefit is when your accelerating though bends its easier to change up a gear because your pushing the lever down not up. Especially when your in a left bend where when your leaned over you wouldn`t be able to get your foot under the lever because your leaned so far.
Now i`m used to it i`d never go back.
