Recently I came across a race mechanic who often tune racebikes taking part in the FIM Asia Pacific racing series..He told me about the many restrictions that a CBR 1000 RR has..This what I can remember;

Flapper : checked
Exhaust valve : checked
Catalytic converter : checked
Cam Air : soon
Secondary Injectors : ????

There's other things he said which I can't remember..I've checked with my mechanic and he can verify the cam air mod but he can't for the secondary injectors..Anyone here have any ideas?? What the race mechanic said was that the secondary injectors can be adjusted to give more fuel or something like that which I can't remember correctly. For the cam air mod..its for the removal or juz plug the cam air hose from going back into the throttle body, it restricts hot air from entering the throttle body. Hot air is not good for combustion..cool air is what the engine wants. This mod is suitable ONLY for hot climate..Sunny climate like S'pore is a welcome mod for the bike..
I'll talk more to the race mechanic again when I have the time..Den I'll post further info.

 

The ONLY way to reprogram the secondary injectors on the 1000RR is with the HRC Kit ECU.
You then need the software and link ($350) to actually program it.

The PC3 only adjusts the primary injectors.

I've never heard of this "Cam Air Mod"... please explain more.
I've heard of good results with adjusting the cam timing, even on stock cams btw.

Basically.."Cam Air Mod" is good for you if you're living in a hot climate...While we're riding, air is drafted in ONLY from the front air duct and into the throttle body rite?? Wrong!!..

I'm not too sure on hw to explain thou but I juz try to give you some ideas..

1) Hot air is not good for the combustion process
2) Cooler air is better..
3) This mod stuffed out the hot air from the radiator area from going back into the combustion process
4) My mechanic called this "cam air mod"

For colder climate..you need this hot air so that your bike can run at the optimal temperature.
For hotter climate..this mod can help to reduce the temperature from going too high too fast..thus maintaining a longer cooler temperature..

I think maybe you mean "Ram Air Mod"? Most people refer to the
air intake (and fake induct ducts) as Ram Air.

I don't know about your 1000RR, but my intake is above the
radiator, not behind it, so at anything 5+mph it's getting mostly
fresh air, not heated-by-the-rad air.

I still don't get it, but I'm thinking about it... let us know what you find out
and any results good or bad.

no..its not ram air..

never mind..I'll go and see my mechanic and try to understand this mod better..

I've not done this mod yet cos its loads of work..maybe when I'm changing the spark plugs den I'll get him to do it..
