RE: Sato's
They have 7 settings -- first being 10mm up and back. The installation directions leave much to be desired but the pics and parts list filled in the blanks. I was dinking around with other stuff while installing and it still only took an hour or so -- maybe another 30min to adjust to my liking. They really give you a more confident feel -- more of a perched on the bike type thing. Also makes shifts, both up and down, a lot quicker. Kind of like a hurst shifter for a car. It now only requires a whisper of a shift. Only thing I really don't like is losing the brake light for the rear brake. I fabbed a piece at work that makes the brake light switch work with the new lever and it worked but it was gonna place the wires dangerously close to the pipe. I suppose I could fab a new bracket but I grew tired of that project and said 'f it.'
So after a couple hundred miles my verdict is the Sato's are a great product. Nice, tight, quick shifts. No more clunky gearbox. More confident riding position. I give them two toes up! Worth all the $$$$$ -- depends on how much riding you do. Suppose you could live without this mod ... but why would you want to?
