Rust and Fuel Filter
I found some rust on my Fuel cap which i removed today with wd40 and a scraping thing, I'm thinking about replacing the fuel filter now and see how much rust got caught in there. I was looking at the microficheat the Ron Ayers website but couldn't find the fuel filter at all, does anyone here know the part #? Also how do you guys deal with rust? Thanks
Your bike is fuel injected with the fuel pump located in the bottom of the tank.
There is a strainer screen around the intake to the fuel pump so no fuel filter is needed.

I don't think my 900RR has a filter either, just a strainer connected to the fuel valve. I've heard a ton of people say they replaced their fuel filter which confused me. I guess they just meant the strainer.
Sorry for reviving an old thread but I want to caution anyone working on their fuel system to ALWAYS use new gaskets and washers. Also, follow the torque values. Disregard this advice at your own risk.
Updating this thread because it came up in my search and will probably come up in other’s future searches as well. CBR1000RR and CBR600RR do have fuel-filtre!!!. There's actually 2 of them, 1st-stage strainer at bottom of pump to remove large particles that may damage and prematurely wear out pump. Strainer has these part#:

16700-MGJ-D02
16700-MGZ-J01
16700-MEL-003
16700-MEL-013
16700-MKJ-D02
16700-MGZ-J02
16700-MGZ-J03
16700-MGZ-J04
Usually come with new pump, but can also be had separately: ebay - CBR pump & strainer
Second-stage fuel-filtre itself comes after pump. It's built into plastic pump housing and is not replaceable! Shown in pink below:

Here’s what fuel-filtre looks like, part of pump-assembly housing. Not available for purchase separately from entire fuel-pump assembly.

If your filtre is clogged, you’ll have insufficient petrol flow and bike will stumble at high-loads & RPMs, even though it idles and runs at low-loads just fine. To test if your filtre is clogged, do this flow-test (numbers are for 600RR, error in 1000RR manual, should be about double this number).

If your filtre is clogged, DO NOT get used pump assembly from breakers! It’s most likely just as clogged as yours or worse! Rather than having to buy entire fuel-pump assembly just to get new un-clogged filtre, many people have bypassed built-in filtre and added their own replaceable filtre, very innovative! Make sure filtre is rated for EFI @ 50psi. No plastic carby filtres allowed!!!!
