Default Riding in the curves on 1000RR

I have always noticed that the sportbike racers always go into the curves and get there body inside of the bike alittle and also have there knee way out down towards the ground....I was wondering if anyone on here has any expenations for why they do this and how does it help in the curves because I have an 06' CBR 1000 and I just started messing around doing that alittle in the curves and its rediculous how much more confidence it gives me for some reason I don't understand....if anyone can shed some light on this please do, thanks!

um not no pro racer or nothing. I dont stick my knee way out but i slide my *** towards the inside of the corner and **** my knee out a little bit to counterweight the bike to control it easier in and out of the turn. The track guys that drag there knee, they do it to judge how far to lean the bike over without lowsiding (footpeg hits the cemenT.) anyone can correct this is what i think.

lean your body off the bike allows the bike to stay up on the tires better. Basically allows you to go faster.

My biggest confidence booster is moving up on the tank and leaning way forward, like trying to "kiss the mirrors" as was told. It puts more weight on the front tire, which I suppose is better for balance. I can go through turns soooo much faster when I lean fowards like that.

As already said, there is no reason to put your knee out unless your on the track, or planning on draggin your knee.. and you better have on some knee pucks if thatsthe case.

Another pointer for cornering. Look where you want to go. Sounds funny, but do not look directly in front of you. Look as far around the corner as you can. Where you look is where your bike heads.

check out killboy.com. You can see some everyday folks just riding with some good skills... they show the not so skilled too....
