Many people responded to that post and say that starting on a sportbike is not smart. I believe it's the smartest choice. The sportbikes are made for handling, going fast, braking everything you need to make riding easier and safer, the can also scare you straight!! 600 or a 1000? If you have any experience riding dirt bikes or streetbikes I think the smarter choice is to buy a used 600 for dirt cheap, but you could outgrow the 600 quickly and everytime you see a 1000 you might regret not stepping up and getting the 1000. Bottom line: Be responsible and take your time with either bike and you will be fine.

Point taken...but still it really depends on the rider's ability know their limits and be patient.
Sportbikes are the easiest to ride no-doubt!!

The CBR 1000 can be handled rather easily if you watch what you are doing with the throttle. It is more stable than the 600RR that I used to own and you can stay in 1st gear while in town or even on the highway. The front end doesn't come up unless you want it to but I only rode it about 15 miles yesterday, in the low forties and with a brand new rear tire. Not once did I feel unstable on the bike. If you feel the pull towards a liter-bike, get one but please know what you are getting into. The room for error is small compared to a 600. People who buy a 1000 as a first bike are more prone to lay it down, especially if they are not on their game in the corners. If you start on a 600, you can make mistakes and still ride away as opposed to a bike with 160hp that will break the back tire loose more easily. At least with a smaller bike you can focus more on throttle control and then when you master that, after a few years, you will have more confidence when you move up. I can't wait to really find out what this machine can do.

outgrow a 600 quickly.LOL
I started on dirtbikes,went to a 500 interceptor then to a 750 interceptor(mid 80's).Now i have my f4i..I feel no need to move to a liter bike ,nor am i bored with it.I can run circles around my buddies that "started" on a liter bike.May take me on the straights but in the curves i get them back.

F4 huh.....? WOW, I'm glad you're happy with a 600.....However I'm 37, been riding since I was 8 on dirt bikes, when I bought my first street bike (88' FZ 600), I loved it but I wanted something faster after like a month....That's just me.....

But don’t confuse that with believing anything you do is okay with owning a liter bike. What do you call someone who bounces their bike through the corners like a rodeo bull rider and then cranks it up to a buck fifty on the straight to prove he’s got the right stuff? Idiot is the word that comes to my mind “any moron can pull the trigger when the bike is pointed in a straight line-and will.” Your grandmother could crank out a 160mph flyby on a ZX14 so you’re not impressing anyone. Save your stuff for the curves.
Also compairing a 54hp(engine hp) fz 600 to a 94rwhp(at the tire) f4i is to totally different beasts.

If i want something FAST ,i drive my car(it has the safety equipment in case something happens)..Which can keep up with a good bit of bikes(750 and higher).

Not to mention I seen the F4/i rated higher than that at the wheel lol
Oh and I will add this since it keeps disappearing. Only fools start out on 1k's.
