My dealer told me Honda does not make a cowl....and that is is an aftermarket part...Did I get boned ?

 

That's B.S. Honda does make a seat cowl for the 1000RR

 

You're right...Just found them on Ebay...I think I'll pay a visit to my dealer....with a baseball bat

 

I purchased a red one on ebay.Brand new in box labeled in big black letters HONDA.Color is perfect so is the fit.He ships it to you quickly.

I honestly think that the seat cowls are just left over from maybe 05 and 04.My guess is that in 06 they changed the body style slightly but they didnt upset the rear.Like I said fit is perfect and the red is right on,perfect match.However I am not sure about the other colors matching up.Like the grey or black.That you would have to ask about.I paid with tax about 186$.Heavy I guess but I was getting the run around from dealers.Some said they are backordered,or Honda hasnt made them yet for the 06.So i saw it on ebay aked him if it would work for the red 06 they said yes and I bought it.

 

Mine didn't come with one and wasn't available at the stealership. They are producing them for the 06's because the blue one that matches my RR is a perfect color match.. straight from Honda.

 

Just got of the phone with my dealer. Says the cowls are not available yet from Honda.
Not sure how they are available on ebay.

I have an 06 Red CBR1K, and this red is a little different from the 05 red. So I am apprehensive about purchasing one for a 05 even if it fits.

Anyone get a red one from ebay? How does the color match up?

 

The seat cowl I purchased from ebay was said to fit the 06 1000.They didnt say the seat cowl was made for the 06 model.I emailed them and I asked them will it work with my red 06 1000 they said yes.I purchased it and I cant see the difference at all in the paint.To me its a perfect match and fit.However my eyes are almost 50 yrs old and maybe not as sharp as they used to be.If there is a color change I havent noticed it.

 

I'd call BS on the dealer. My partner got one for his 06' yellow/blue in 3 days from our podunk Oklahoma Honda shop, from Honda.
