Default pass pegs, remove????

Hello to all, I want to remove the pass pegs on my cbr 06 but the right is attached to the heat sheild. I seen some pics where fellow riders have removed their pegs and still have their heat sheild on. Any suggestions? If you guys have any pics please post pics.

Well, here's what I did (see pic)
I removed the passenger pegs and only removed the black plastic trim piece. I left the heatshield itself alone.

I have seen people running with teh pegs off, and heat sheild off. Makes the bike look ALOT cleaner. Does it really get that hot? Let me know
