Exclamation Newbie

New to the forum. Just bought an '06 cbr 1000rr in October and thought that it would prove beneficial to participate in some forum shinnannigans. My name is Doug and this is my first sport bike so I will probably be that guy with 1000:1 q:a ratio. I appolagize in advance for my ignorance in the domain of two wheeled motorized vehicles.

i'm in the same boat doug, i just purchased a 2007 cbr1000rr last friday... got it brand new for about 8000. my name is Joe. too bad there is snow on the ground... cant wait for the warm weather... Until then i got my srx700 haha

I'm a sportbike newbie, just got the CBR 1kRR for xmas have about 1100 miles on it so far. Plenty of miles on my BMW but on the CBR I'm still finding my way.

I can't believe newbies are starting out with the 1000RR that's way way too much bike for newbie. I really hope you take it easy and take the Motorcycle Safty Foundation riders course and get your M License.

I cant believe you got a cbr for christmas??? Holy **** what do you get on your birthdays?

Anywayz welcome to the forum.. Dont worry about asking questions.. I ask them all the time. There is a ton of people on here that can help you with pretty much any problem.

A good few people told me to be weary of the 1000rr. To be honest, I did not get the 1000 because I wanted to go fast. I swallow a 600. A good friend of mine has a '05 R6 and he let me ride it a bit. I just felt like there needed to be more physical bike under me. I stand a little over 6'2 and I weigh about 210 and I just don't feel comfortable on a 600. I feel like a clown ridding a clown car. (expression may be...is... a bit over the top...but) in all sincerity I feel that the power of the 1000 makes me a safer rider in that I am mildly fearful of its power which keeps me in check. Also this is not my first bike, only my first sport bike. I have been riding for a little over three years, not like that is a lot but I feel that, for me, it is enough.

all of your reasons for buying it are bad. a 600 is not any bigger or smaller in SIZE then a 1000 and the fact that the "power" of a 1000 makes you a safer rider, and "being mildly fearful of a 1000's power" as a new Sport bike rider is retarded. However your riding of 3 years is at least more then most people who take the step up. Regardless I really hope you wear your gear and dont ride with friends for a few months "You generally try to keep up when you dont know your bikes or your limits on it"

just throwing this out there but 90% of people who buy a 600 or 1000 as their first bike crash it with in the first year of riding.
