Question New 1000rr after selling my 954rr, opinions?

Just sold my 2003 954rr k&n,PC3,two brothers, and usual cosmetics.

looking to get a new (06+) any opinions/recomendations? Im 6'1'' 220lbs.

currently looking at a stock 2007 repsol 16k, or an upgraded 2006 gsxr 11k, love honda and repsol is about 1k$ cheaper(6500$).
or is there another bike i could get a better bang for buck?

thanks in advance

Get another Honda, since you've already had one you probably won't enjoy the gsxr as much. My wife had a 08 gsxr and I just couldn't really dig it because I was comparing it to my Honda. I think the Hondas have a better fit and finish than most other brands though. Her gsxr felt cheaply made, everything from the noisy buzzy plastics to the unfinished look the engine cases had that just seemed to corrode. But it's a personal opinion the Hondas just feel more solid and are usually more streetable than others.

I think it depends on what is important to you. If you want a bike that is easy to ride and handles really well, there is no replacement for a Honda. The gsxr will probably be quicker and have a slightly better comfort level for longer rides. The gsxr will be more wheelie happy and quicker turn in. But the trade off is a bike that does not feel as solid. I've ridden a few and just can't connect with them. I know its more personal prefference than anything, but I just couldn't force myself to like the gsxr's I've ridden.

If you have 6500 to play with, don't count out Yamaha. The R1 is a fantastic bike that has extremely high durability. It also has a very comfortable position for riding. The down side with them (04-07) is they take a bit to set up properly to handle well, and they have a very tall final gearing. You would need a sprocket change, speedo healer, and a proper set up guide to get the most from it. But they are fantastic bikes.

If I had to buy a bike today, it would be either a 1000RR or an R1.

I actually wasn't even thinking Yamaha... They're are a couple around, I'll definitely look into them since I was planning on a sprocket change on which ever bike I get anyway.
