need help choosing a new bike
Hi guys
Thanks for your input here. I'm kinda stuck right now deciding on a new bike.
I've got my heart set on the CBR 1000 in the Repsol colour scheme and right now have my eye on a couple of different bikes.
The one I'm looking at is a 2007 Repsol with only 800 miles. I can get it for about $9200. But....I don't really need it. I already have another bike, but I really WANT it and nothing else. However, I can wait.
The question is do I go ahead and get this 2007 beauty in showroom condition? or do I wait a couple of years and get a used 2009 Repsol with ABS? (that's the way they come here in Canada).
How much better is the 2009 CBR1000 in terms of handling and feel and how important is ABS?
Thanks,
Raz

i've lived without abs on all my previous bikes and i am still alive. It is a 1000 dollar option and adds about 20 lbs to the bike... the 09 repsols are pretty steep in price...to the tune of 13,500 WITH ABS. I had my eye on a 07 repsol with 400 miles on it, but opted for a brand new silver 07 1000rr for about 8,000. i just bought it in feb this year.
if i were you i'd get the 07, i was inlove with that 07 repsol at the dealership, but insurance was a little higher and i woulda been paying 2500 more out the door just for plastics, i'd be that much more pissed if i dropped a repsol espcially if i forked out that much more just for plastics, still would be pissed if i dropped my silver 1k. but repsol plastics are even more $$$!
The 07 rep with 400 miles that i was looking at was over priced IMO, they were asking 10,500 here in Wisconsin! i was like F*!k it! i can get a brand new same year bike for 2500 less.

It doesn't seem logical on a sport bike.... yes on bmw motorcycles and what not, but they are known for going over the top with features on bikes that really shouldnt be there.... Rockets have been around how long with out abs? and why are they starting this now? i wouldn't want the extra 20 lbs... and i would not pay 1000 dollars more for it...
