What does repositioning the rear brake below the swing arm do?

I would guess it makes it easier to change your wheels over at trackdays etc too, i know my stock caliper is a right bastid to hold when your doing it all one handed.

You are right anubis, that's the main reason....other then it's a bling factor; it's also lighter and the lower the CG is the easy it is to flick the bike from side to side.

You notice that much difference from the weight of the rear caliper? Can only be all of 200Grams

No i couldn't but adding it all up you could feel it too.

TI sprocket bolts and nuts, lighter brake caliper and brake rotors, lightweight battery, Light weight wheels (and tires), and a whole other things will add up.

Let's face it...If Honda didn't think that CG was important then why did what they did to the CBR600RR and the CBR1000RR... MASS CENTRALIZATION.

O i definately agree on the mass cg thing i love the way my bike handles because of it. Just was curious to the little weight saved and moved by the caliper, but you are right it all adds up.

Hey Metal... I see you've hit other forums to induce drooling!
1000rr.net is down for some reason (Server upgrade?)
Good looking bike man, keep it up.

I broke down and called the local engine shop the other day myself.
I wanted to just do a fork spring swap, and ended up seriously
considering spending $3000+.

NOT getting a 2006 leaves a guy with a little extra cash
