Default may never ride agian

i was one my way to work on wednesday. i came off a turn and went into 2nd gear fine. doing about 45 went to shift to 3rd and dumped the cluch be for i was in 3rd. front end came up so fast it throw me off like nothing. i slidefor about 470 feet the bike went alot further. i got to my feet and there was a small amount of pain in my foot i walked to the bike to see how bad it was. the hole front end was gone. that is all i could see. i turned and statred to walk down the road to pick up what i could. buy this point my foot was killing me some guy came over and told me to sit down. i sat there till the EMTs showed up and took me to the er. the hole ride to the er all i could do is think about the new bike i was going to get. that all stoped when my wife that only has 3 weeks to go till are next girl is here, and my 8 year old walked in. my little girl came up to me with a look that i hope i never have to see again in my life. it mad me see how much i was puting at risk if this had gone real bad. i have to get some pins put in my foot this week but i still think i got off lucky. ps it was a yellow and blue 06 with 4500 miles on it.

I was always shown to get right back up when you fall. Just have to be carefull. Yeah bikes are a little more dangerous but walking across the street is a risk these days

thanks for all your support guys. it is not that i am afraid of getting back on a bike it is that i am afraid of leaving my family alone. that is the most scaryest thing i can think of ever happening.

I am also glad you are going to be ok!
I had a bad crash in Dec 06. I didn't get so lucky as to only pins in the foot.
I had hit some bumps in the road and it pitched my front tire off of the ground and when it came down
I started to tank stap & fishtail. At 6:20am it is hard to hold on and stop the bike. When the bike bucked
me we both went to the ground and slid into the a K-Rail at about 45 mph. This happened as I exited
from the freeway. When I was done sliding & tumbling. I tried to get up to go get my bike out of the road
I felt popping in my hip.
Long story short: I went to the hospitol with a Dislocated Hip - Fractored Aceutablar (Pevlis Cup)
3 plates & 8 screws to fix it back to new again.

19 Days later - After missing Christmas & New Years. I was in a wheelchair for almost 2 months.

Well now it has been over 4 months and I am walking fine and doing good.

So both of us got REAL lucky that we are alive and able to walk again!

I would say for you to be a FATHER and wait until the kids are older to maybe get a crusier or
something.

BUT be a DAD NOW!

As for me I dont have the kids or the wife, but
who knows if I will ride again? We will see when the bike gets rebuilt!

I know how you are feeling. I had a a couple of minor get offs last season, both of which I was very lucky, as I could havebeen hurt, bad, or worse, just a little to the left, or the right and Imay have been killed. That feeling when you get home to the wife and baby, it rips your heart out, itstuff. Even now, after a good day of riding, I come home to my family and sometimes second guess this sport.

But, I look around everyday and see people in bad accidents, freak accidents, highway crossovers, piece of concrete falling from the sky and squishing you.(actually happened last summer, knee wall of a parking garage fell and crushed someone from like 6 levels.) And I think to myself, it can happen any time any place. And I cant just live my live from the recliner. It would suck so bad to quit riding becuase of the dangers, and then fall in the shower and die. ( that happened too, to my one of my friends)-after he sold his 1KRR

Ultimately, you have to decide if its worth it to you, and your family. You are going to spend alot of nights laying in bed contemplating it, alot of mornings in the mirror.
I made myself feel alittle better, I bought a very large life insurancepolicy. If something happens, myfamily is taken care of. house, college, allcared for. just, they wont have me.

rest well, heal up, and just enjoy the time with the family. It doesnt have to be one or the other, it can be both, but your answer will come in time.
