I clean and lube every 500 miles and after riding in the rain.

Its not likely you'll be taking that chain off unless you have a clip-type master link (even then its not worth it).

Make sure you clean it first then lube. Otherwise you'll be lubing dirt and the lube will just fling off.

I clean and wax my chain everytime I wash my bike (every other week or so). The first thing I do is scrub the chain down with WD-40 to remove all the dirt and grime (works really well too.). Then I wash the bike, wash the chain, rinse it off, and towel dry. I let the chain completely air dry while I'm waxing the bike, then the last thing I do is apply the chain wax and touch up the lettering on the tires with a tire marker.

Sorry, kind of a describing my wash cycle, but that's how I go about lubing my chain up.

I use chain wax that's actually the brand.
I take the bike down the street to warm up the chain, than clean it and put on the spray wax.
Chain Wax works for me. Simple to use, just spray on.
It dries quick and it doesn't flling off,I used to hate washin the bike go for a ride and have crap all over the rims.
hope it helps. Now I clean it everytime I wash the bike.Learned my lesson on this forum.

Chain wax is good cos it didn't fling off..but make sure you spray where you're suppose to spray!! Not at the centre of the chain(secondary) but on the shoulder..ie; the chain links(primary)..dats where the X ring or O ring chain stores its grease to maintain its flexibilty

Juz my 2cents worth..

i do the same thing blue fox does .. except i use a degreaser (those cleaning stuff that u use to clean the dirt of ur car engine) the chain comes out very clean and then i put >>honda pro HP chain lube << that lube is perfect never ever fling off and dry once u spray it on the chain..... only thing i dont know if using the degreaser is okay or not ..??

i lube my chain after i wash my bike since i clean the chain as well. i have a DID racing chain so i like to keep it clean. you dont have to take thechain off. just spin the tire. taking the chain off would be
unnecessary to me. its a lot easier if you have a rear stand too.
