Default look out! 05 start up problem!

hey there,
Just be very carefull when starting an 05 blade. Mine was in neutral with the stand down and i was standing next to it. When hit the starter it lept forward and fell. All i wanted to do was warm up my baby! Can not believe what has happened. This should have been impossible! Any thoughts?
Will i be covered by my honda warranty?

Hey there muz,

When you pull up on the gear change lever and get a green light light on the dash, that indicates you are neutral. When the stand is stand is down, it is supposed to be impossible to start a bike that is in gear.
So, that would make it a bike fault.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. I would think that it would be covered. When you take it to the dealer, just pray that it does the problem for them. Your right by the way, it definitely wont start with the kick stand down. I'll be sure to sit on the bike before I start it from now on.

Hopefully honda will cover it.

Your under tail and exhaust look really trick! I am in Australia and have never seen anything like it.

i had a similar problem on my 4 wheeler and the source was the clutch not fully disengaging. i truely hope that your dealer will cover the damages but i believe that they won't if they cannot replicate the conditions that you said happened.

Unlucky, I always pull in the clutch before i thumb the starter old habit from when a bike i had would n`t start without the clutch pulled in, prevents problems though. I can see you having a real battle on your hands getting the bike to do it for the dealer. Welcome in [8D]

Honda to the rescue!

Honda have agreed to replace all damaged parts(middle and lower fairings) with new ones. They are also replacing the neutral and sidestand switches, all at no charge!

Very happy and relieved honda owner! Had a 94 blade for five years(tiger blade) and loved it!
Plan to keep the repsol for at least that long, still confident honda's are the superior machines!
