Default I'm I nuts!! From a 250R, I tested a 600RR and 1000RR...

Hey Everyone:

I'll probably get responses that I'm nuts, or crazy...

I've been riding a ninja 250R for a few months now. I'm ready for an upgrade.

Around my area there was a 1000 and 600 posted on CL. The owners let me test ride them for about 10-15 minutes. Nothing crazy but around their neighborhood.

I thought I handled them very well. I didn't have any issues launching the bike, corning, etc. Riding them made me a lot more confident.

I thought the 1000RR was a tidbit more comfortable. I'm I nuts to even consider purchasing that bike? I know the test ride was 10 minutes long, and owning it are two different things...but still

Thoughts?? THANKS

Yes you're nuts but only due to your spelling. If you like the bike and it feels OK then go with which ever suits you. You're presumably not looking to pass into the afterlife before your time so assume you'll be careful with your life and the lives of others.
Have fun. Make your dollars put a big smile on your face. Be prepared for slightly higher running costs but face cracking fun.
If you do however consider yourself to be something of a kamikaze rider, please downgrade to a Honda 50 and call it a day. I hear Dominos are paying over the minimum wage for delivery boys at the moment.

more like a fool if you jump to a 1k. Ignore the ego-maniacs, get a 600 n continue to learn to ride properly!!!

I agree with playful, plus a 600 will also put a smile on your face.I took me awile before I made the leap to a liter bike,I've done more on a 600 than on my 954 and thats fine with me.

Get the 1000 if it's more comfortable. Both bikes are more than fast enough, but a liter bike is easier to ride on the street, especially in traffic. The 1000 is smoother and you don't "rev" the engine just to get moving from a red light. The '08 1000 has a relatively weak low end <weak for a liter bike>, but a spectacular mid-range, that is easily controllable.

a 600 has more power than anyone really every needs, a 1k is all ego!!!!

Not that I'm sayin I wont ever get to one, but power is a non-issue really.

Also this guy hasnt been riding long, so he has alot to learn b4 he even thinks about riding a 1k. Yes it can be done, has been done, but shouldnt be done!!!! Have to learn to walk b4 you can run, same applies here. Problem is soem guys cant keep their egos in check!!!!

If you do the 600 it will make you a better rider. However its your money do as you want. If you like the 1000 get it. I do agree they are more ego than anything and especially if your primarily ridding the street.

We see threads like this all the time. We can give this guy our opinions but in the end he is going to do whatever he wants anyway.

I would say go to a 600. I went from a 500r to a 600F4i, Sold that F4i, regretted it and bought another F4i, 2 years later I now own a 1000rr.

I would suggest getting a 600 and working your way up. As Monstrosity said, it will make you a better rider. If you jump up to a 1000 you may put yourself in a situation that you cannot handle. Do your self a favor and buy a nice used 600.
