Honda is giving me the runaround

Honda is giving me the runaround
I bought a 07 RR in June 2008 from Canada.
Two months before I moved to California, I was trying to get a paper from Honda saying that this motorcycle complies with California standards.
I checked the manual and everything else and I am 100% sure it does.
I called Honda Canada, and they told me I will have to contact Honda USA because they know nothing about California standards.
I called Honda USA and they told me that they know nothing about the bike and that Honda Canada need to give me that paper.
Right now,I am in California and my motorcycle is still in Canada, in my friends garage.
I might have to sell my 1000RR for a lower price just to fix this problem.
Does anyone know how I can get that paper? other than go to a honda dealership here and never leave unless they give me that paper???

RE: Honda is giving me the runaround
First thing you need to do is talk to your local DMV. They are the ones you have to make happy and they should be able to tell you what they need to register your bike. Then let the seller know what the paperwork is after DMV tells you what it is. At the very worst, you may have to take the bike down to the local Honda shop to get the bike "upgraded" to meet the California standards.

Thanks I will do that.
But the bike is still in Canada, and it does comply with California Standards.
Thats what it says in the owners manual and also under the rear seat so that should make things easier.
The shipping company was telling me that i should get that paper before shipping, so maybe i should drive it here, or find another shipping company
So you think i should bring the bike here first, then try fix everything?
The only think i didn't wana do is pay 1000 for shipping then ship it back, spending 2000 for nothing...

RE: Honda is giving me the runaround
i know importing a bike from the other 49 states to california it has to have more then 7500 miles on it. and if i remember correctly most bikes in canada have similar emission standards as cali so that shouldnt be a problem. just the 7500 miles unless the bike is brand new then i think that rule gets voided and re titiling for cali takes place and a chp inspection must be done. but talk with dmv they will tell you whats up

RE: Honda is giving me the runaround
You can not be the first person to ever move from Canada to Cali ... since Cali has the rules for emissions they should have a place to take your bike. Getting a paper from a Canadian dealer to prove emission compliance seems kind of stupid ... but that's bureaucracy for you

Register andinsure it here.Youcan keep Alberta or some other provincialplates on it. Where there is a will there is a way. I have taken my bike to AZ and California for the last two years. That way youll just be another snowbird.
Store it up here if you need to. Theres always room for one more!
These are all mine...
