RE: GPS
There is some error with the stock bike, but no more then any others.
I forget now, but I think it's ~3%. The error is not linear, it increases with
your speed. EX: @ 60 it may read 62, but at 120 it may read 125.
If you are concerned about it, or are regearing the "Speedohealer" is a
great product that will make your speedo very very accurate. You can
find settings that have been GPS'd/Radar'd to be accurate.

RE: GPS
I know that I am always hearing others talk about what speed they hit on their GPS...but I have never actually seen anybody with one...and am really interested to know who has one, what brand and what do you think. The speedohealer is good, but from what I hear, its still not as accurate as the GPS units

RE: GPS
I already had a GPS. I have a Garmin Etrex Vista. I used it alot when I was deployed to Iraq. But now I use it on my mountain bike. I thought about my motorcycle. They do make a handle bar mount for it. Only 15 bucks off of amazon.com. The GPS will put you back about 300 dollars if you want one with color and is hand portable. Also great for hiking, boats and cars to I found out.

RE: GPS
Yea I have a garmin as well I bought it for backpacking. I dont consistantly use it on my bike however. I would not get one just for that purpose. I all honesty your stock speedo is acurate enough to keep you out of trouble with the cops. The GPS is only really usefull when you want to know exactly how fast your top speed is. I have not even done this yet. I am trying to behave on my bike. I know that with my luck if i try to find an absolute top speed...... I will get caught. However if you can find other usues for one around the house. Its a worth while envestment I use mine quite a bit.

RE: GPS
Pretty sure low end models have speed on them. Only thing different on mine compared to others. Is that mine has streets and major highways/freeways. ALso you can look up what food joints are on exits. I know mine is high speed like that. Never thought about doing a high speed run and having my gps mounted....HMMMMMM makes me think. I know some nice roads out here in socali to do that at. By all means purchase one. You will not just use once and let it collect dust. It pays for itself. I hope I was some help.
