FLUSHMOUNT LED PROBLEM
 

Hey guys, I just got my new 1000rr and i bought the proton flushmounts with a shock eliminator kit, with leds. The problem iam having is now the bike thinks there is a light out and blinks really fast? Anyone run into this problem. Thanks for any help!:)

i have a hotbodies front led's and a clearalternatives tail led's. mine blink faster than stock but i like it that way. Oh and i did NOT install any of the resisters that came with the lights.

the proton flushmounts have a trobe option but does not look that good with the blinking fast.

im sure the resistors are ment to slow down the blink rate. I think it even says it on the box for the clear alternative lens

The issue you are having relates to the fact that a standard bulb used in stock aplications has a higher current draw than that of a led bulb used in most flush mount aplications. The sensor on the bike sees this lower current draw and interprets it as a blown or missing bulb and flashes faster to notify the user. The only way to fix this issue is to add a resistor to the mix for each flush mount. The resistor duplicates the current draw of a stock bulb and allows it to flash at the normal rate. On a side note I think it adds a nice touch having the signal lights flash at the faster rate but it is a personal prefferance.

you will need to change out your stock flasher with one for your leds

To slow down the rate, you will need to install resistors to slow it down. Make sure the bike is started before you decide anything.

If memory serves me.....I think you have 3 choices for set up on the lights. I have the same ones and I set them to the super fast strobe blink......is that what you are referring too??

Just do it the right way and replace the flasher relay with a "variable-load electronic flasher". This way, you never have to wire in resistors (which can get REALLY hot) and you never have to worry about it again. Plug it in and forget.

Usually, they're about 8-10 bucks.........but being these are sportbikes, they're most likely going to retail for more like 20-30 bucks.
