Default Dyno

my 08 1000RR made 164 hp and 81 ft-lbs of torque at the wheel on the dyno yesterday. I have two bros slip on, power commander (custom mapped), Ignition Retard Controller. I saw a couple graphs on this forum recently where some guys made over 170 hp with their 08's. Dont get me wrong, I am more than happy with the performance of my bike but just out of curiosity, do I just not have an efficient set-up on my bike or did I forget to do a specific mod that is keeping me 8 to 10 hp lower than the other guys?

Dyno runs really don't mean anything as far as top hp and torque is concerned. If you run bikes side by side on the same dyno, then that would inidcate how much more someones bike has than another. But from dyno to dyno, it will and can vary even as much as 10 hp. If you run your bike on a different dyno, expect a different reading. Chances are pretty good that the figures your seeing over 170 would be in the 160's on the dyno your bike ran on.

its really not to say dyno's are wrong, there are just so many different factors that play into them. the main thing you need the dyno for is to tune your bike so its running its optimum, and that's where the dynos' really come in handy. Also, you get a base run, do your mods and see how much power your increase was, but judging readings from dyno to dyno, just doesnt work.
