Default Difficult Shifting

My 05 1000RR is getting more difficult to shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... It's almost like the clutch is not disengaging all the way. It's got 2800 miles now. I ride it moderately fast, bypassing the clutch on the upshifts some of the times. The bike does not creep at a stop with the clutch disengaged though. The shift lever seems loose, as it wobbles slightly where it bolts to the engine, although the bolt is not loose. The linkage has no slop. The shift rod, where it exits the case, has a bit of slop. How does this compare with your bikes?

All replies are greatly appreciated.

John

Maybe your " speed shifting" has damaged one or more of the shift forks, bending them possibly, luckily the CBR1000RR has a casette style transmission and the motor does not have to be removed to access the tranny..either way it will need a mechanic to inspect the transmission if that is the case

Sorry but I gotta agree with the Limpster -- shift fork either bent or damaged. Sounds like it may be two of them.

My next stop, of course, is the dealer. None of you does upshifts without using the clutch? I roll off the throttle when shifting. I shifted the same way on my 98 600F3 for five years without any problems

Dinking around usually use the clutch but *****-to-the-wall running I don't. I've found the Honda gearbox to feel stout compared to my last 2 zooks and kawi. If you're shifter is real wobbly then maybe you just have a bad bearing -- that'll be a quicker and less expensive fix than the forks. Don't know if you're still under warranty or not.

Good luck!

Plus you may find that they have a whole host of excuses so if you take it back i wouldn`t metion shifting without the clutch so as not to add more fuel to there `fire`

Check the allen head screw thats attached to the shifter. I was riding one night and the shifter came off. I just figured that with all the shifting that I banged it loose.

I did check the Allen screw for the shift lever and it was tight, although the lever was wobbly. It's at the dealer today to check for the probelm. I'll let you know what they find out.

Thanks for all of the input.
