Default Deformation of rear light unit

Did anyone have it?

First time I saw the rear unit was deformed after about 1,500 km (less than 1,000 miles). I took it to the dealer and it was replaced for a new one, under warranty. A couple of days ago, when I washed the bike, I saw that the new unit is also deformed. It seems like a heating problem (exhaust heat?).

Anyone had this?

Ari

Yeah, the rear tail light on my 1000 is a goofy *** color and now it makes vibrating noise when I twist the throttle (warped from exhaust heat). It is very annoying and is just a matter of time before I take it to a dealer to have it replaced. Not sure there is anything that can be done with the center up exhaust.

At least they are replacing it. As I know, the Israeli dealer contacted Japan with a questions, due to the fact that a large part of bikes sold here have the same problem.

The bike is all stock.

In the attached pics, you can see that the right side of the unit is clearly deformed.

just wondering if replacing the stock exhaust lets the system breath a little and maybe doesn't hold heat as much. might be a good excuse for a new slip-on...

I spoke to the dealer and told him that I would rather get a new Akrapovic unit than another rear light unit [sm=goodidea.gif]. It is still in discussion.

man, so i guess it' not worth getting an intergrated taillight if it's gonna get burned like that

That's just crappy that the light melts. I've got an integrated taillight that seems to be doing ok. The 2Bros sticks out about 1 1/2" more than the stock. Hopefully that'll keep the heat off the taillight.

that is true, all aftermarket exhausts stick out further.
