Yeah if you go with the new one, you should really break in the seat BEFORE you go. The more you ride it the better if feals. BTW you guys will have a blast at the Gap. We went last October for three days, can't wait to go back. If you have never been becareful, run it slow the first time to get the feel of it, then open her up. Have fun!

 

+1 on that and also gotta break in the seat as well, im thinking of getting the corbin for long runs....and i dont know what else to say, your about foot taller than me.............lol

 

Hmmm first of all I never knew a liter bike to be "comfy." I am 6'4 246lbs and damn my *** hurts on my cbr1000rr. Feels like I am sitting on a church pew. Being that tall you will sit higher in the saddle. That means more wind on your chest at high speeds and causing strain on your wrists. I suck it up doesnt bother me anymore but if you want comfort then I would go with the cbr1100xx. Longer wheel base and some more weigh but its like a barka lounger going threw the twisties and believe me it can handle whatever you throw at it. Not to throw a dig at you man but your a big dude and some people may think your riding a 600rr rather than a 1000rr...they say i look big for my bike, i can imagine what people would think on yours. Having both a 1100xx blackbird and a new 1000RR (Repsol), I would recommed the 1100xx blackbird for a taller, bigger guy.

 

i'm another 6 footer and i find when riding slow through towns and that it hurts so my advice is to stay away from going slow and go as fast as **** then you dont get time to think about the pain in your wrists *** or your legs,hope this is some help to you!!!!!

Looks like you repositionned the rear signals on your, can you post a picture of the rear of your bike?

So far the chat has been in referrence to the OEM seat. I bit the bullet and went with a Sargent seat - absolutely love! I ride 500 mile days on it; 1950 miles in 10-days; 12000 miles my first year ('05). So, it goes to say I can put in some saddle time. I've also added adjustable rearsets, db windscreen, Throttlemeister to address comfort issues on long rides.

The litre bikes are much smaller than your 1000F, give it some time to make up your mind. Personally, I like the smaller size because it makes 'em vastly more manuaverable than a XX, Busa, Zed Ex 12, etc. But the Blackbird is fast and goes the distanc beautifully. I'd suggest a db on the XX straight away, though. Wind blast hit me square in chest/head area.

I'm 6' and a little under 200 pounds and the stock seat was OK for the track but hurt like hell on long runs (must be the lack of "natural" padding).

I had my seat re-worked by a custom seat manufacturer in the UK called bum-wraps - I am not sure if they are still in business but a good furniture upholsterer could do the same thing.

My seat had extra padding fitted and was re-profiled - I'll get some pics up soon. Makes it much more comfortable on long-distances but I still go back to stock for the track.

Not sure if there is a similar service provider in the USA - look at custome seat guys who do specials for harleys and the like - they may well be able to help.

 

I find my bike to be very comfortable.

 

I am the same size as you, well almost, I just dropped 260 miles in the twisties today, no problems.
