CBR or GSXR?
ok here is my story. i had a 2006 750 GSXR and it was stolen which really sucks. i had 36,000 on it before they took her. i had no problems with it what so ever. it was a really good bike and was my first bike. now i am in the position of buying a new one. but i also want to step up to the liter class. i heard nothing but good about the new CBR 1000 and i personally think it looks good. i would like to hear from owners of 08 1000's that might have owned a suzuki or kawi or yamaha and what they thought of the switch. i do track days as well so i want a good road bike as well as track. some people say "steppin up from a 750 to a 1000 no matter what you choose you'll like it better" i know im going to like it thats why im steppin up. i just want to know if you were in my situation what would you pick?
the gsxr is good but the new 1000RR 08 is so far ahead of everything else this year this is really a no brainer question
oh and the R1 is a dinasaur compared too... well all 3 of the other 1000's

i traded my 06 gixxerthou for an 08 cbr. in a word, REFINEMENT! the handling is unbelievable. i've done track days with both.
my gixxer had a power commander, -1 front sprocket and can. since it was pre-euro3, it did not have a cat. my cbr is stock, so it's not totally fair to say that i miss the low end grunt. but in every other way, the cbr is superior. the power builds so smoothly, it is easier to get going faster than you realize. fortunately, the brakes are very very strong.
now then, when selecting a company to work for or invest in, the most important aspect is its culture. when you buy a motorcycle, you are investing your butt in the manufacturer's culture! suzuki's culture is null and void! reportedly, they have serious frame problems on many gixxers. just ask around on trackdays. sometimes just the subframe, sometimes the main spar right in the middle of the bike; 14 that i have heard of - google the issue. reportedly, they have tip over switches that are stalling bikes on the track. in every case, they ignore the issue! f that.
honda on the other hand obviously works hard to engineer-in safety. and when they do have a problem are respectable adults who take ownership of the problem! witness the run of goldwings whose frames' cracked. they figured out that a coolant jet on a robotic welder was clogged. they took care of every 'wing that they could identify as being effected.
would never go back to a gixxer for many reasons!!
oh, yeah, it's good to find a good forum. hello! i look forward to contributing. i generally keep my toys a long time. i rode a cbx for 27 years. then a suzuki for 1.5. i liked the bike a lot, but could not worry if it would just dump me on the asphalt! when you're doing high speed power wheelies, you don't want to worry! suzuki attorneys say you should not be riding it like a racebike! WTF?
