buying a leftover 09' or 10'
Just sold my 954RR today and have been looking at 2 different bikes. Both bikes are new. An 09' pearl white/silver, perfect but was demo'd with 32 miles on it. The other is a 10' pearl orange/silver, o miles but has some shipping damage. A few rub scuff marks on the paint..I have no clue what to offer on these..Was thinking on $10000 otd on the 09' with a 4 year Honda extend warranty. Or maybe $10600 on the 10'.. Ive seen the 11's as low as $10999 plus tax which would put me at $11700 otd.. Never bought a new bike before and have no clue where to start..
Thanks..
Thanks..

I bought the orange and silver 2010 back in feb. I think I got them down to right around 10k then added the extended warranty. Out the door it ended up being right around 11k id have to look at the papers because I dont remember the exact number. I got them to go down by calling other stealerships and getting price quotes and they would meet them. When I bought mine the tag on it was still 13,999

A lot is going to depend on where your located. If your in a seasonal state, you can probably get a decent deal towards the end of the riding season. if your not, you probably won't save a whole lot of money. But in general, most dealerships will knock off 1,000-1500 per year. So if they have a 2011 on the floor say at 13,000, you can expect an 09 at that dealership to be 10000-11000 or so.
But bigger dealerships that move more bikes will have better deals. Small dealerships that only get a few bikes in will more than likely try to get the most they can.
your best bet is to check out other dealerships within the same area and see what they are selling for. A new bike with damage should cost a grand less in my opinion, no matter how small it is. A demo should also be a grand less. So, if you factor in 1500 a year loss, plus a grand less for the damage or demo, you could expect to pay 4 grand off sticker for the 09, and 3 grand off sticker for the 10. At least thats the way I would approach it.
Another thing to consider is the demo model should be easier to get a deal on. The brand new one is probably not prepped yet, but the demo is. The longer a prepped bike just sits there, the more value it looses and the dealerships should know this. Use that as a tool to get them to drop it more.
