Buyer wanting general 08 1000RR info
Evening Fellas, I signed up yesterday I think, and after some searching I'm looking for a "buyers guide" of some sorts for the 08s. I understand they had some issues with the coolant hose clamp, clutch, and oil consumption.
First off, I live on the island of St.Croix and the bike I'm going to go look at a bike thats in Puerto Rico. It has 1900 miles and was low sided. It needs a clip on and some fairings and a fuel tank. I understand that some of these bikes had recalls done before they were even sold as new bikes while in the dealer show rooms. The owner says he didnt have any performed so based on the VIN I'm assuming I can find out one way or another. The owner also says the bike is under warrenty untill Nov 2011 and he will email me pics and the VIN 2morrow.
Question; are the recalls transferable? If I buy the bike and the recalls have not been performed than I'll just take it to the dealer in PR and have them do them.
Is there an indication on here (thread) of what VINs were affected?
I may be forgetting to ask some crucial questions so feel free to come forth with any advise.
Thanks for your time and consideration!

Morning, well I have pulled the "sight unseen pin".. I couldnt pass this up... I made a deposite on a sight useen 08 after talking to the guy and recieving 20 or so pics. I got the vin and called my guy I use to do buisness with in Maine; he said the coolant hose and the clutch recalls were done @ the dealer, no oil consumption indications were on record(still a little leary of this). I'll post a few of what the bike currently looks like. Yes, I do see the dent in the frame on the trottle side.... I'm scheduled to head over to Puerto Rico on the 9th to make the final inspection and put in on the ferry for St.Croix. I'm pretty excited at the possibility of building this bike; my hopes are for a HM Plant, Honda Dream, or RC30 world endurance replica(avitar). The major replacements consist of;
1. Airbox
2. fairings
3. subframe(could possibly bend it back)
4. clipon(prob do both and change the rise)
5. possibly fairing stays
6. Frame (maybe)
Does anyone have anything good to say about running a 190/55 as opposed to the std 190/50?
Thanks in advance for your interest and words of wisdom.

Just wanted to put it out there that I'll probably need a frame. If anyone has a good line on one I'd appreciate it. FYI, doesnt matter if its a salvage frame or titled ether way I can register it here in St.Croix. I really don't want to spend anywhere close to the ebay 2k on a frame. Thanks for lookin guys.
