Man, get any torque wrench then. Better than nothing. Can get one at Kragen for like $25.. Cheaper than the socket needed. lol..

dunno about what torque values you'd need tho

I really have no Idea....it may depend on few things....Are you using the stock bearings with the wheel? Does the wheel manufacturer recomend anything?........To be honest..... that axel see's a lot of torque......I dont know that I would trust anything less than the manufacturers specs......... When you think about it, you have the chain adjustment bolts to help hold the left side when under power but for braking or gearing down, nothing holds the right side except the torque on that nut.........just a thought.......

Torque wrench and socket is cheap compared to going down.......

I had an old 1 1/4' socket that works perfect for the axle nut. Would use a torque wrench every time ... expecially with aftermarket wheels. If you have any doubts contact the manufacturer about proper torque.

And for any newb types that don't know, this is a flame free forum. Smart assed comments should be kept to yourself [:@]

ORIGINAL: toptaz1000rr

its no diff.. it IS 83ftlbs

aftermarket rims is 1/2 of that
im not sure this is true. i have begun inquiring about this. the dealer that sold me the Marchesinis i have said to use stock rating of 80. i called a friend of mine that works t Yamaha dealer. he also said use the stock value. they both said that the only time to reduce that rating would be if using carbon fibre wheels. any input........

correct......you cannot do damage to the wheel by torqueing it to the stock specs...including carbon wheels....the axle tightens on a steel spacer tube thats between the bearings....you cannot crush the wheel.......84 ft lbs.

I have magnesium Marchs.....and they say stock spec on the torque
