600rr or 1000rr?

Default 600rr or 1000rr?

I have an 01 f4i and I am now looking for a new bike and i know alot of people ask this question but im not only concerned with the power. I am woundering about difference in gas milage, and insurance. Would it be worth it for me to go to the 1000 just for the extra power?

If you get the 1000 just respect it. My fuel light comes on around 125 depending on who i ride with, i get the best mileage when i ride with my dad following him hes got a VTX1300 and is a slow poke. I get 42 mpg when riding with him. My insurane went down when i bought my first 1000 but i did have 2 driver discounts. the second 1000 made it go up double but still not bad at all.

People don't buy sportbikes for fuel mileage, or cheap insurance. Be honest with yourself.
The 600rr is a more powerful machine than your F4i. It will provide a significant increase in power and handling. The 1000rr is heart attack serious and will not suffer fools (not saying you're a fool). Develop your riding skills and live to see your 20th birthday. Count this as a vote for the 600rr.

generally speaking, whatever you are paying now for insurance will double for a 1000cc bike, depending on your age and record.

As for the 600rr having significant increase in power and handling over your F4i. I would have to disagree. It is a better machine for the track and will lay down better numbers on the track. On the street, your going to be hard pressed to notice the slight increase in power. In fact, your F4i will feel like it has more power down low and in the mid range. I would ride one first. They are lighter and the handling is quicker, but I would never drop that much money for something that was slightly better.

If you are sticking with a 600 class bike, I would just keep what you have. The F4i is a great bike and will hold its own for a long time coming when it comes to middleweight bikes.

A 1000 does nothing if you don't know how to actually ride it. Otherwise you're just another dude with a liter-bike and 3" wide chicken strips.


And FWIW; I race an 02 F4i and I manage to throw down some good numbers.....even against the newer machines on the grid.

Of course when I showed them to my wife - oh yea, those are 3 inches at least babe ;-)

Two stock bike dynos... 2001 f4i 95.1 bhp 2008 rr 107.72bhp... yup I call that significant.

really 12hp is significant??? Anyways I would sit on both of them. I wanted to move up and sat on a 1000rr and started the search for a 954rr I don't like the 1000rr just me. I would stick with the F4i. Great bike, great milage,

12hp, lighter machine... yes significant. Lets see, motorcycle reviewers rave about small incremental yearly improvements that may be 1 to 5 percent difference. This comparison skips several years of development not only in the motor department but also in chassis development.
I agree the f4i is still a great bike. Honda keeps improving their bikes and keeps producing class leading machines regularily. Progress marches on and those yearly improvments stack up on you.
The original post asks 600rr or 1000rr. I'll stick to my vote for the 600rr. I own a 1000rr.
