hello old fat guy
how are you. i dont understand this is a 1000rr forum and all we get is someone compairing a 600rr a r6 or a ri or a gxr1000 and iam just trying to make a statement. when i owned a 600rr i was on the 600rr forum and buy the way to all those 600rr lovers i loved mine to was a great bike but when people stand back with their hands in their pockets thinking wow i believe that i can beat this 1000rr with that 600rr in the twisties well that just gives me something to hoot about.
first of all the 600rr has about 50 less hp the 1000rr only weighs about 25 lbs more and the torque curveis way beond that of the 600rr. so any one knowing any thing about torque knows that the 1000rr will out torque the 600rr all day long i just get tired of trying to explain do you own a 1000rr or are you making a statement that you no for a fact that the 600rr will eat the 1000rr. i know i have owned mine for a year now and saturday a week ago was the first time that i really let the wings out if you no what i mean and their is no way that my 2003 600rr with a yosha full system a power commander and a 3 2 sprocket combination would even come close to the speeds that this 1000rr will do and the scare factor is way up their to just ranting.i would just like to no if we are a 1000 forum or a anything forum.
holy run-on sentence batman!

The 1000RR forum is a forum for discussions on the 1000RR, NOT exclusive ONLY to 1000RR owners.

.....and iam just trying to make a statement.
I believe originally, you asked a question...........

wouldnt the 600 pass a 1000 being a lighter bike, assuming the riders are at the same skill level?
........yep, that question.

Hey Hobbs, how you doing? We still have to get together for a Deals Gap run! [sm=smiley20.gif]

I understand what you're saying -- I get a lot of guys coming up to me and saying a litre bike is too much and you can't ride it to it's full potential, so what;s the point. Well, I agree with them! But then again, I couldn't ride a 600 to it's full potential either.

I think that's why some compare the 600 to the litre... and I understand it completely. They just want to know why we need a 1000. I don't need a 1000, I want a 1000. Same as I just want a Honda instead of a Zuk or Yammie.

That's the way I take it, and I'm happy to give them my two cents when they ask me.

ALL I ride with is 600's, r6, 636, and a cbr600. I have a 05 cbr1000rr and we all take turns running lead, none of us run off and leave the other, but I do get a heck of a jump on them coming out of the corners. They seem to turn in easier, but not always faster through the corner. We keep our straight line speeds down, but I do hammer it coming out of any given corner and pull them by two or three bikes everytime. If we were racing I would win but it would be a lot closer than you would think.

Both are great bikes, and I feel the new 600rr would be very hard to run away from, that's if you were able to get in front of one, on the streets or track if either are tight and technical. I fall under the above average size human (220lbs skinny) so I like the extra power from a 1000 and will ride but never buy a 600.

ya i understand i couldnt ride my 600 to its fullest and i no for sure i cant ride this 1000 to its fullest but i didnt buy this thing to try and kill myself on i just enjoy riding. heck when i am on my goldwing i fell just as good as when i am on my 1k the ride is just different. i live in upper east tennessee and all i have to ride on is twisties all but interstate riding which i do not like. we have the blueride parkway 90 miles away deals gap 90 miles away which i have never been to we have roan mountain that is 50 miles away their is a road 80 that has 155 curves in 10 miles goes back through the woods very beautful. we have highway 66 30 miles away that we ride that is all mountain road from the time i leave home we can ride 5 hours and never be on the main road all twesties.their is holston mountain that has 380 curves in about 25 miles of road local bubble machines have been shutting us down on that one though. so you see i have a lot of twistie riding to do.on the forum i see that a lot of guys are from up north and out west and in the lower southern states i have a friend that lives in tulsa oklahoma he comes out every august and he went back home and told his budddies after riding here that they would have to learn how to ride all over again it is that diffetent. i under stand old fat guy you went to deals gap last year so you see what kind of riding we get to do here just wanted to explain some of our beautiful riding places we have here in tennessee upper east that is.

I think I remember Motorcycle.com comparing the #1 600 to the #1 1k, and the smaller bike seems to always win (I think it's mostly done on a track). And a key thing i remember is the confidence level of the riders. You can only go as fast as you feel comfortable. There was only 1 of 4 test riders who said that he would chose the 1k, and that was because he was the most skilled in the group and he said that with time and practice he'd be able to pull away faster on the 1k than on the 600. It seemed like most people pushing the limits of a liter bike are more afraid than confident than on a 600cc bike. And I remember reading somewhere talking about being able to ring the the throttle earlier out of a turn sooner will be better, and most people being able to do that on a 600 better.

i totaly agree with that on my 600 i felt i could open it up coming out of a corner and not worry about to much wheel spin on the 1k you had better watch out for wheel spin because it will not lrt you down on that. with that said once you learn the 1k coming out of corners is a blast just baby the throttle but dont think because you baby it that it is not going some where all of you guys that ride liter bikes no what iam talking about.

it's about usable power...and when to use that power. it's not a bash on liter bikes.
turns 'can' take the advantage of power away when you have to worry about lifting the front, wheel spin, and other issues...
i've ridden both...and prefer a 600...it is much more tossable, but with the weight almost equal these days...that line will blur soon.

I'm no expert, but with the same rider it'd be close, probably with the 1000 out in front. I'm still rusty and trying to get back into the swing of things again, but it seems to me that the 1000 is more of a handful to throw around. My F4i was very nimble and handled very well. You could also really lay into the throtlle and not worry so much about the front lifting or spinning up the rear.
Bottom line is the actual speed through the corner would be about the same, but the exit would be a lot faster on the 1000.
Besides, when hanging out at starbucks posing, it's fun to jab at the 600 guys for buying girls bikes
