Default From a 600 to 1k?

Who's made the jump? I'm considering it, I've been riding for 4-5 years now at 21. Went from an zx6r to my current F4i. When you first made the switch was it OMG WTF I just **** myself, or more of a....oh wow that is nice to have low end torque, cool - aka not what you expected. I've never had the opportunity to ride one myself, most buddies of mine either have Busa's or 600s/750's. The 750's honestly didn't seem like much of an upgrade to me SOTP (07 GSXR)?

I'm by no means an expert rider, but I don't consider myself a bad rider either by any means. Also been considering a 600rr. Any opinions from you seasoned litre bike guys? A part of me feels ready to upgrade 400cc's, a part of me doesn't.

go for it..with 4-5 yrs exp. of actual riding under ur belt makes u , I think better prepared. Start easy with the 1k as you probably did with the 600.

it's fine it's not a huge jump imo, unless you have only had your 600 a short while, my 600f4i is slower then my 081krr but only really on the freeway is it considerably noticably slower. But it's nothing you cant handle it's just like riding in 3rd gear going 40 the speed bursts are like that, only on the freeway in 6th going 90

In my honest opinion. its like.. "OMG WTF I just **** myself"...

Seriously though, you'll be fine. I remember when I first switched. I was grinning from ear to ear for over a week. I couldnt stop smiling. Its down right amazing the difference in low end grunt. Remember, your 600 at its peak torque is around 40ftlbs. the 1000's are making that just a littleoff idle. Be very careful for the first few rides. You can't treat it like its a 600. But it wont take you long to realize the difference.

But like I said, you'll be fine. 4-5 years is plenty of time to get you ready. Just keep your throttle in check, you'll be happy you made the switch.

I say it depends on how/where you ride. If you ride twisties, leave your ego at home cuz there will be plenty of 600's spank your *** in the mountains. I been riding on and off for 20 years, I dont see myself ever, ever getting or needing a 1k sportbike. But, once you get use to to the difference n power n throttle control you should be fine.

You're gonna notice the torque right away!

Power on demand in every gear, at any speed.

And watch those turns, they will be coming at you even faster...and you could be in serious trouble in seconds.

The biggest thing for me was the low end power. I loved my f4i and still wish I had it, but I would not get rid of the 1k either.
I like the ability of riding down the freeway and not having to kick down acouple gears to get some power.

If you respect the bike it will respect you. If you don't give full attention, she will reach out and bite you. Trust me, they can bitepretty hard.

Good luck with your decision.IMO, you can't go wrong either way.

guess everyone's different, Sure i notice a difference but I feel more of a "the new 1krr handels better" then power. i mean sure it's way faster. but if you can control a 600cc then you can control a 1k imo

I guess I don't necessarily feel I NEED the 1k. No more difference than you buying a 954 as opposed to a 600, right? I just honestly hate how every newer 600 I've rode has an absolutely garbage powerband and absolutely no low end.
