600 to 1000

600 to 1000
First off, let me start by saying I am not going to be buying a liter bike anytime soon. I just got my 02 f4i a few months ago and I love riding it and I think it's more then enough bike then I'll ever need (im like a horse jockey, 5'5 145 lbs all skin and bone, some muscle, lol). I'm new to riding street but I have been riding dirtbikes since I was 12 or so.
What I want to know is, for the guys who stepped up to liter bikes, how long were you on a smaller bike for? How long did it take to adjust to it? What was different about it? (im guessing its alittle heavier and ALOT faster, lol) I'd def like to ride one if I ever had the opportunity
In a few years I will probably get a liter bike, right now I am just curious.

I rode an F4i for about 2 1/2 years before stepping up to an '08 1000RR. There is definitely a difference in power, but the weight isn't that big of a deal if you go to an '08 and up. I think the weight difference between an F4i and an '08 1K is about 35 lb. (someone may have a better number than that - but it isn't a large difference).
You won't be able to rev as high on the 1K - I always kind of liked ringing out the F4i - it was fun. You can't really do that on a 1K - you'll be in the 100 mph neighborhood at redline in first. You also shift less, as you have much more torque available all the time.
The handling on the '08 1K is great. I was able to lean further on my F4i - after I switched to Michelin Pilot Powers. After I get off of the stock tires on my 1K, it may be a different story. I have never been a fan of the stock Dunlops - I think the profile may be a little flat for my tastes.

thanks. So would you ever go back to riding a 600? I kind of am trying to relate it to a MX bike..I rode my rm125 for like 2 years then i stepped up to a 250 2-stroke. I know that I cannot ride a 125cc mx bike to its full potential, but i dont think id ever go back to riding one after riding a 250 2-stroke lol
my 600 doesnt have alot of power down low, its a screamer but its still enough so that its smooth and easy to ride..and being tiny helps i guess lol

i bet a liter bike would be a better buy then most 600's due to them being less beat on.
same **** w/ dirtbikes..125 2-strokes (when they were alive) and 250F's are always beatup due to them being revved to the moon and ridden by young fast kids
i hate 4-stroke mx bikes..2-strokes rule! lol

+1 on the 2 strokes!! I started riding dirt bikes and four wheelers. Bought a 600, had it for two years. Then bought my leftover 06' 1k last July. The 6 was good for a while but I'm 6'3, 260lbs ... so that 6 got old real fast. Now the 1k to honest, I'm still adjusting but I only got about 2000 miles in on it. The biggest difference is how unforgiving the throttle is.
But, I still ride my cousins 6 every now and then. And on the highway, forget about it!!!!! 1K
