I just got a used '08 CBR RR 1000 with 400 miles on it. And love it!!!!! It's the best bike I ever owned!!!.... anyway, i've never owned one, and looking for some tips, advise on how to ride, take care of, maintain this sexy 400 lbs. rocket. Like what rpm should I cruse at? When should I shift. It's alot different then my suzuki. (thumbs down). How do I get the front end off the ground? Sitting position? gas? This is my frist one, and like I said I need some advise. Thanks for your help.

In the riders seat.. not the passenger, should be ideal.

yes. Probably 91 octane or higher, no diesel.

You can buy a front stand. Very easy to get the front off the ground.

 

Tell us how it is different from the suzuki, please. And what suzuki are we comparing it to?

 

I also have an 08 1000RR. I bought it new in December and now have around 3,100 miles on it and love every mile. I'm wondering why someone would sell such a bike when they only rode it for 400 miles. You said you bought yours used with 400 miles on it.

Anyway, many of your questions can be answered via the forum search feature. As far as getting the front wheel up you can first try the power wheelie method until you get used to it. Find a lonely back road with a long straight stretch. Start out in first gear, get up to around 10 mph and snap the throttle wide open. It'll initially take off like a rocket sled but when you get up to around 6-7k rpm the front end will start rapidly rising.

After you start feeling comfortable with that you can try clutch wheelies, which take a bit more finesse.

 

I also just recently bought an 08 1k and it is an amazing bike.

Like Roadijeff said, at full throttle around 7k the front end will want to come up, hard. When doing power wheelies there seems to be a fine line between picking up gently and shooting straight up so be patient and take it easy at first.

Check in your owners manual and around the forum for maintenance advice.

As for general riding techniques and advice, I highly suggest you read 'A twist of the Wrist 2.' I can think of two times already in which that book has helped to keep me from wrecking.

 

I'm not trying to bash anyone, but i dont recomend a 1000rr if you dont know when to shift. i really dont recomend trying to get the front wheel off the ground if this is your first bike of this caliber. what was the susuckie that you had? just putz arount on the 1000 for quite a while to get the hang of all the questions you asked.
