Default 2006 CBR1000RR

I found an Adobe Acrobat file about the 2006 CBR1000RR Fire Blade.

When I converted the metric measurements for the reported bikes dry weight and engine power I get 388 LBS and 169.5 HP respectfully. If someone gets anything different after making these conversions or hears anything different about changes in weight or HP please let me know. The interesting thing is Honda has not "officially" released the weight of the US 06 1000RR so I wonder where these figures come from. If like the release about improvements to the 05 CBR600RR, Honda's official dry weight will be conservative. If you didn't know Honda said the weight was one thing but when testers all weighed the bike it was always lighter.

I looked up the 04-05 CBR1000RR specs on Sport Rider.com and they have it weighing 437 dry and 149.1 rear wheel HP. The spread on these numbers between the 04/05 and 06 specs seems too wide to be realistic.. I am really looking forward to the magazine reviews. Can you imagine if the bike really looses that much weight and gets that much more power.

I personally like the new look of the plastics and the colors offered of the 06 1000RR. I already have the wife sold on us buying one next spring and I'm leaning toward the silver but I like the red as well.

Honda UK site claims 170hp for an 04/05 and 175hp for an 06 model both figures will be read at the crank of course not the rear wheel.

437 dry weight? that seems really high. i thought the honda website had the 05's weighing in at 394 lbs

Good catch! I recalculated and came up with 388 dry, 176kg = 388lbs. I think what I did was convert the claimed curb weight which is 203kg which equals 447lbs so I was still off 10 lbs.

Get the red. Red always looks a little more wicked than silver. Silver is a little more smooth looking.

Yea, I saw it. I was disapointed by the lack of new info Gregg White put out on the 06 1000RR. Not that it was his fault, the show just ran out of time. After speed cut the shows one hour time slot down to one half hour some of the stories seem to be compress and rushed.

i have seen pics of the 06 1K, but is there any cosmetic/plastic difference from the 04/05 model (BESIDES PAINT)?? it seemed to me the 06 had a different nose/front end??

Yeah, different nose slightly, and the side fairing panels are in one piece instead of 2. + cut away a little to reveal more engine.
