Is there supposed to be huge changes to the CBR in 08'? They just made significant changes in 06'.
My theory on waiting for a bike because of the changes is......why the heck wait...it would be one thing if they were coming out in 3 months...but if you are talking a one or two years....that is one or two years you could have already been enjoying freedom.
And Still....the single, ugly, 1980's style headlight on the Gixxer is ridiculous. I love the side view of the Suzuki but the headlight has go to go.

I just bought an 06 1000rr last week (left over=great deal). I researched all the big four, when I was done researching I was convinced that the R1 was the way to go, however, the salesperson at the dealership was desperately trying to push one of 4 leftover 06 Gixxers. In the end I went home unsure what I wanted. I found out that a guy I know recently got a 1000rr, and I gave him a call. He was very happy with his bike and the dealer that he went to. So low and behold I went and left with a new 06 1000rr at a great deal. So far I am very happy with my purchase. The Bike is all black with silver decals, looks like a stealth fighter and everywhere I go I get compliments.
The only reason I didnt get that gixxer was primarily my distaste of its headlight- absolutely hate it. I also like my can under the seat. very sleek.
good luck.

The new Suzukis now are all Cali. emissions legal. They added a hole lot off stuff to do this. When I went to the update seminar for my dealership Suzuki said if you stick your fingers in the gas tank and cantouch the gas the tank is too full. This is bad because they have an evap. canister for the fuel tank and if its too full the gas will go into the canister and ruin it. Suzuki said they will not cover this under the warrenty because it was the custmoers fault for over filling.

I can give you my 2cents. I was riding a 2000 r1, but havent ridin since 2001. So my first thought was new r1. But I talked with a buddy that gets to ride alot of other bikes(people he knows who ride). And he said get the cbr1k, I was VERY leary, only ever ridin an r1. So i took the plunge after muck debate and reading I got a new left over, black 06 cbr1k. Last friday, i have only put on about 50miles so far(Damn weather). But i tell you that the bike bike is great and im glad i didnt get any other 1k.I have a full sato on the way with a pcusb. I rode the gixxer and was not very impressed with it. Go for the cbr you wont regret it.

I own two bikes an 06 cbr600rr and an 06 gsxr600 HONDA by far is my favoriate and cough cough the Honda is faster at least it feels that way down low in rpm's the 1000 gsxr is so freaking uncomfortable compared to the gsxr 600 and my Honda. I look at the people in trafic also when we go riding and they stare at my bike not his. Also in corners we end up going around him cause he has to go slower not the bikes fault but he is not exp: I sat on his and even with corbin seat it just felt all wronng the tank feels huge and your sitting kinda like a dirt bike I don't like the 1000 gsxr at all. Fyi I like the Honda better but the 1000 Cbr to me is also a little to wide in the hips but I would get over that.
