No question that the Gixxer is a great bike...however...I think it is an ugly looking beast...especially the front-end [:'(]

I have to agree with everyone, i considered buying the gixxer; I even tried to sell myself on all those magazine comparison's. No matter how I cut it, the 06 1krr is simply a work of art....smooth clean lines, and more cutting edge technology IMO. Honda took what was already a great bike that was redesigned in 04, and did things too most other mfg's do only on their factory race bikes, and the result is a razor sharp machine. Honestly, for the majority of riders that buy full liter bikes, who really cares if the R1, Gixxer, or even the ZX have more horse power. At the level these bikes are at, more isn't always a good thing, yes maybe for the factory riders it makes a difference, but most of us ride on the street with the occasional track day, and honestly our bikes are already fast enough from the factory. Of course we all still spend more money trying to squeeze a couple more hp out of our bikes, but the bottom line is this is the CBR forum, and all of us have already casted our vote for our mfg of choice. I dont care what improvements honda says they did to the 06 blade, it performs no better than the 04/05 and has a lower top speed.

Not to down the 06 because I most likely will be getting one after the summer but wouldn't a big portion of that power come from the 2 extra teeth on the rear the 06 got this year? If you would set up both bikes with the same gearing their would be less of a difference powerwise between the two.

I have tried them all. As my mate owns a bike shop. R1, Gixxer, ZX10R, 1000RR. I ended up with the REPSOL. Even when I go out on ride outs and all four makes are there. There is no real difference on the road. It is just down to what the rider prefers.

Agreed, it really is a matter of personal preference, I will say this with regard to the 05 vs. 06; I really wanted an 05 in the begining; I still think the fairing is sharper. I bought the 06 for two main reasons, 1) I got the deal I wanted and 2) It an improved design over the 05. I am sure the 2 teeth make a dif, as does the added hp, as does the lighter weight, as do the larger front discs, as does the improve exhaust, and the new gear cuts in the trans, and the porting of the heads, lightening of the cams, higher redline...etc. etc....I am no taking any thing from the 05, its a great bike, the 06 is simply the refined version....
