Hey folks:

I am not trying to start anything, but has anyone thought about going from a liter bike to a supersport (600) class? If so, what were some of your reasons?

 

It's all preference. Personally, I thought that the 1000RR felt a bit overpowering for the street. I would never be able to stretch the legs of it anywhere without throwing myself into a real dangerous scenerio, or getting slapped with a ticket. Before I bought my bike, I mooched off my buddy and rode his 1000RR for about 7 months or so. I've ridden for years, but this bike would always find a way to scare the **** out of me. When it came time for me to actually buy MY OWN bike, I went with the 600RR. But again, that's my personal preference. (plus, I don't have to change my underwear as often now, LOL!)

 

i went for the 1000RR because i did get a better deal out of it, and love the blue/yellow color.. down-sides? umm insurance - just because of the bike, it went from $2,000 a year to $3,000 - (from 600 to 1000)

so find out what your insurance rate will be first off.

for the bikes themselves - i will never be able to hit the max on the 1000RR, dont even want to try.. but it sure nice to know you can outrun anything that comes your way.. in first gear alone, it can get up to 80mph without hitting redline. but blue fox is right, it's all about personal preference.. it's a bigger bike, yes - but it doesnt feel anymore heavier or harder to turn then the 600RR.. And I'm a guy that is 5'6 135lbs, so i'm a little guy and it's not at all hard to handle or too much power (well i go at my own pace, Sh*T if i ever pull that throttle all the way)

so just kind-of play it by ear i think, sit on them, see what you like.. there are some places in some cities that let you "rent" out bikes - so maybe try that. see if your friends will let you ride theirs... but just make sure you check your insurance rates, i didnt know mine would be that high for a 1000RR at the time of buying..

 

i would get a 600 for a track bike only. 1000 for the street. why? because of the tq.

I would love the 600 for the track cause I know I could go all out. But I love my 1krr.

For the street, the 600 will need to be reved harder all the time....... The thou can be lazierly riden and it will stil go hard...... Much easier to ride on the street as you dont have to be like reving above 10,000rpm just to get her to boogy past the truck ahead....

I found the 1k was much more easier to ride on the street. If you plan on doing more street riding then track i would go with the 1k. But like the said it comes down to personal preference.

 

I went from a 1000 to a 600 because I traded in my 1k and a few monthws later got an R6. Man it screamed but I felt like i was riding a moped. The power just wasn't there. It was harder to lift up aswell. Just my .02

 

Why did you trade-in your 1000 for an R6?
