If its good until 2012, heck I'd at least get some good wear on it before replacing.

The recall may be good until 2012, but is your current clutch?

I don't know, and I haven't seen any info from Honda saying exactly why the recall was enacted. The only info that I've gotten past the recall notice itself is nothing more than hearsay. I doubt seriously it was just to improve the existing clutches. There was a problem, and they acted to fix it. Good for Honda for doing so.

Personally, I don't want to be stuck by the side of the road somewhere (or worse) because I didn't get the work done. Clutch wear has never been an issue for me, so I could care less about extending the life a little. I want my bike as safe as I can make it all the time.

Since you've seen the insides, tell us what's different between the original and the replacement.

I think this would be interesting to hear from someone that's actually gotten thier hands dirty making the change.

Default recall for all 08s or just particular vin # range

I just picked up a new 08 1000RR last saturday so my paperwork probably hasn't made it to honda yet, but does anybody know if the recall if for all 08s or just a specific vin range?

Not positive, but pretty sure it's for all. My dealer told me that they pulled all of them they had left and went ahead and did the update.
