well i have only had one ride on a 954, and i didnt push it. I would say go for the 1000, for that much you can get your hands on a nice bike. i think the 929 is a little better balanced than the 954.
after my car blew up i wanted another so bad, but im not going to ever get another ha, move on i would say.

I say get a 08+ 1kRR. be updated and have 600 size, weight, and handling with the power of a 1k. And if you end up not liking it you should have no problem selling it and having enough to get a nice 954.

The 1000rr is a lot of bike in a 600 sized package. Its fuel injected and once you make the switch from carbs its a tough prospect to go back. You have to respect it or it will spit you off.

1000 Faster more power lighter once you ride a FI bike you won't go back to a carb. I traded a GSXR for the 1000 when it was new in 08 Hardcore GSXR guys thought I was nuts......I'd do it again every day of the week and twice on Sunday's if I had it to do over

also the 954 is as light as a 600
just a little less hp than the new 1000
and I really loved everything about my bike, even down to the trunk space
I miss that bike more than ***** on a dry spell
