So I was doing a trackday today and still have probs with shifting. It used to just lock out sometimes shifting up from 2-3 and sometimes 5-6, it still does that -NOT FUN on straight aways, but today it started not shifting to 1st gear from neutral at a dead stop. I would kick- no shift, kick-no shift, walk bike forward- kick-no shift, rev a little- kick no shift, shift upto 2nd - good then down shift to 1st- hard bang and in gear. It kind of bounced back when it wouldn't shift. It did this probably 7 out of 10 times I tried to go after about 1/2 of the trackday. Also it hit a false neutral 3 times downshifting from3-2 at around 6K RPM while braking for a corner- NOT FUN!! It also seems like it is really banging into the gears when I shift now.

Any thoughts?? I'm taking it to the dealer next week, but wondering if anyone has had similar issues lately or what they think it is. Clutch? Trans? Shift Linkage?

red 08 smooth and solid from the day i took her home..
got around 1500 miles now with 2nd oil change, just getting better as miles pile on,the click is so faint on the upshift ,, that's how smooooth it is,,only 1 missed shift from 1st to 2nd and that was due to fatigue, (lazy shift)10 hrs of straight riding, at this point I just wanted someone to drive me home

I Have no experiance with the 08 but i had an issue with my o4 shifting into a false nutral in between 4th and 5th. when i haf my engine rebuilt mechanic showed me the gear cluster and that the dogs on the sides of the gear cluster and adjacent gear were realy worn down, causing the "false nutral". Changed worn parts. Transmission fells like new. smooth as smooth as silk.

I've noticed a similar issue on my '08. It's only happened a few times but then again I only have about 200 miles on it at best. Twice so far when shifting from 5th to 6th it seems to go into neutral lala land before grabbing. The first time - I thought it was me being lazy. The second time I was like WTF. Now that I've read this I'm even more like WTF!

This is DEFINITELY happening to me. My bike has only 188 miles and 3 rides on it.

First ride: Very short ride from dealer and no issues with tranny.

Second ride: It happened 4 times when upshifting from 5th to 6th. I let my friend ride it, and it happened twice to him within 10 minutes.

Third ride: It happened once when upshifting 4th to 5th, and once when going from 5th to 6th.

All while using the clutch with positive upshifts.

This will create a very dangerous issue on the track!
